Twilio Authy: codes on several devices at once
Built its reputation on multi-device sync years before Google added it. 53,401 ratings at 4.7 — and its main argument has weakened since.
Authy was built around one idea: phones get lost, access must not. Codes synced between devices and lived in an encrypted backup years before anyone else bothered.

Still better at one thing
Several active devices, not one device plus a copy. Google syncs so a new phone can restore; Authy lets phone, tablet and desktop all generate codes simultaneously.
If you sign in from a computer regularly, that is a real daily difference.
What weakened
Google added sync in 2023, and for most people that closed the gap. The reason to choose Authy went from "the only option" to "better if you use several devices".
The catch
An account tied to a phone number. Every other app here works without registering anything, and a phone number is precisely the identifier that gets hijacked in SIM-swap attacks.
