MediBang Paint: comics and manga with cloud between devices
MediBang Paint is built around pages and panels rather than single images. We look at how it differs from ibis Paint and who it suits.
MediBang Paint differs from general-purpose editors by knowing what a page and a spread are. A comic here is not a set of pictures but a project: panel grids, text layers, screentones for shading.
What it gives you
Multi-page projects. Pages live together, get numbered and export as one file — something general-purpose drawing apps do not do at all.
Cloud between devices. Start on a tablet, continue on a computer, fix a panel from a phone, all on one account without moving files by hand. The desktop version exists and is free.
Ready-made assets: backgrounds, tones, fonts for dialogue. For a comic these save more time than any brush set.
What it costs
An age rating of 12+ in the App Store — higher than the 4+ of the other editors here. The reason is the shared user gallery inside the service, not the drawing tools.
Dependence on an account. The cloud is a strength and a condition: without signing in some features are closed, and your projects live on someone else's server.
Who it is not for
Anyone drawing single illustrations. Everything about pages and panels becomes dead weight, and on brushes MediBang loses to ibis Paint.
